Dark Skies

STREETS WITH BRIGHT STREET LIGHTS SHOWS A BETTER PATH

Bright street lights guides us to safety

INTRODUCTION

I frequently go out with my friends and hang out with them as a teenage student. Our home curfew is about 6 p.m., so it isn’t that late, but everytime I’m driving home, I always have this panicky sense that I won’t be able to stop, despite the fact that no one is bothering me. Imagine traveling along a dark street alone, not knowing whether or not someone is hidden someplace waiting for me, which is terrifying. I looked around and noticed what my barangay is lacking: “streetlights.”

Captured around 6pm, Zone 5, La Torre.

Since I frequently drive a car, I’ve noticed a difference between when I’m in other barangays and when I’m in my own. It’s evident that my barangay lacks road lights and street lights, which can result in an accident not just for us drivers but it can also affect other individuals by any chance.
